KeepSafe for Android is an app that is designed to hide photos and videos in your device from anyone who doesn't have the correct PIN to access them. With so many photos and videos on your device, it is likely that there are some you'd rather keep private, or at least protected from potential accidental deletion.

Most people who want to share photos on their device with those around them will simply hand over the entire device so others can see the photo up close, but when that happens there is always a chance that the other person might start shuffling through the rest of your gallery. Even if you have no photos or videos that could be considered embarrassing, you still might prefer to keep the majority of your content private. KeepSafe offers users a way to selectively sort their photos and videos into a protected and hidden location.

There isn't much to this app, which is great considering how well it does what it is supposed to do. The software does come in both free and premium varieties, but the free version is completely functional in terms of photo and video protection. The premium version includes a number of extra features that make the app even more comprehensive, like a false PIN that is accepted by the app, but it only unlocks a prearranged set of decoy photos. The truly hidden photos and videos will remain hidden underneath the decoy layer.

When you install KeepSafe, you'll see a dedicated app that must be opened to use the features of the software. You'll have to set a PIN number for the app, and only the correct PIN will allow access to the content stored in the vault. The app also offers several other advanced functions like the ability to share certain photos under a specific time frame and the ability to curate albums that are completely private.

Much like the Gallery app that comes standard with the Android system, KeepSafe has a simple interface that allows users to browse photos, delete them, reorganize them, and share them. Beyond the fact that the app requires a dedicated PIN, it is almost identical to the Gallery app.

The app is very intuitive, especially for those that handle photo and video content on their Android device already, which is exactly the demographic for this software. It could be considered annoying that the PIN has to be entered every time you want to access the private photos, but there has to be some form of security that goes beyond simply hiding the photos in a different location than that default Gallery.

Anyone who is worried about others seeing their private photos and videos should give KeepSafe a try. While the app doesn't have the ability to specifically hide audio or text files, it can hide photos that include text, which might include information that needs to be protected.
